PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - A military ordnance found in a yard Wednesday in Portsmouth was not live, according to investigators.
According to Jan Clark with the Portsmouth Police Department, a resident in the 1600 block of McDaniel Street discovered the device.
A Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal team responded and determined the "projectile-shaped" item was not live.
One block was closed to all traffic during the investigation.
Homes have not been evacuated, but a school bus was told to reroute after attempting to enter the area, Clark said.
