PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Police said the same suspect or suspects appear to be responsible for the stabbing deaths of two women in Portsmouth.
Linda Gay Carroll, 65, was stabbed to death in her apartment on Madison Street, on Feb. 25, police said.
Then on March 6, Gloria M. Johnson, also known as "Puddin," was was found stabbed on Wilcox Avenue.
The two women knew each other and were friends with the same people, Portsmouth police spokesperson Jan Westerbeck said.
They both worked at Norfolk Naval Shipyard and went to a lot of the same places, and did a lot of the same things, Westerbeck added.
Detectives believe that there are individuals who know about what these two women did on a daily basis that would help police find a motive.
Each woman appears to have had contact with others before each was killed and detectives said they would like to speak with those people.
