PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - If you were at the Portsmouth waterfront Saturday, you may have thought you traveled back in time. It was the city's annual Patriot's Day celebration.
The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Portsmouth Naval Museum. Visitors got a taste of what life was like at the time of the War for Independence in 1776.
In addition to music, there were demonstrations of rope-making, board games, and of course, food. Once you step back in time for Patriot's Day, visitors also had the chance to brush up on their swash-buckling skills at a Pirate School.
