PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - No one was injured when a two-story home in Portsmouth caught fire Saturday afternoon.
Fire crews responded to the 400 block of Lakeshores Drive near Hartford Street around 1 p.m. after a fire was reported in the area.
Firefighters arrived on the scene to find heavy black smoke and flames coming from the second floor of a two-story home.
Crews worked quickly and were able to extinguish the blaze in about 10 minutes according to a fire department spokesman.
The home sustained fire and water damage.
The three people who live at the home were able to escape the blaze unharmed. Fire officials were not sure if the they would be displaced.
Fire investigators are working to determine the cause and the origin of the fire.
