PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - A Florida man was indicted Thursday in the death of a missing Portsmouth man.
James Britt's family had him declared dead last Aug., four moths after he went missing.
Police went to Britt's home in the 5100 block of Moonlit Avenue on April 15 and found sufficient cause for concern once inside.
Investigators removed just about everything from the home. They also searched a house in Chesapeake, taking some paperwork, a piece of carpet and a swab of a red substance.
Last year, police confirmed they followed a lead to Florida, but at the time had nothing concrete.
That all changed April 5, 2012 when 52-year-old Freddie Lee Hall, Jr., of Palmetto, Fla., was indicted on a first degree murder charge.
Hall was arrested just after 4 p.m. in Florida.
Newport News Police are still looking for a killer more than four years after a 17-year-old was shot dead.
