PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - A construction worker was injured by a failed floating crane at Naval Station Norfolk Monday.
The worker is a superintendent for SKANSKA, a Virginia Beach-based construction company working at Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
According to Jessica Murray with SKANSKA, the floating crane gave way while picking up a concrete bucket at approximately 6 p.m. Monday evening. The load came down and his the worker, who was later transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where as of Tuesday he stayed for observation.
The victim does not have any significant injuries, according to Muray.
Wet weather is expected to move into the area over the weekend, forcing some areas to cancel or change their holiday events.
