JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) - Police are looking for two men after they say a woman was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint. It happened in the area of Harpoon Court in James City County.
"I hope they throw the book at them," said the victim's neighbor Henry.
A woman heard a knock at her door around 9 p.m. on Aug. 16, according to Major Stephen Rubino with the James City County Police Department. The woman told police no one was there, but the dome light in her car was on.
Police said the woman went to check it out and she was confronted by two men, who each had a gun. They forced their way into her home, demanded money, and ransacked her place.
"My reaction to something like that is unbelievable," Henry added. "With the police patrolling this area, a lady had to go through something. It's unreal. What kind of coward would stick up a woman anyway? I'm calling them cowards. Yes, I'm calling them cowards. I'm from a different era. You don't do that stuff."
The woman was assaulted by the suspects, who took $50 and fled, according to police.
"Well good, they should get 50 years a piece," Henry said. "Ain't that fair? One year for every dollar."
A local convicted robber will serve 15 years behind bars for his part in a robbery at the Oceanfront two years ago.
Charges have been made in a domestic abuse investigation involving a 74-year-old woman in Elizabeth City.
Witnesses tell WAVY.com the attack of a shopper was the cause of a heavy police presence at the Ross department store at Military Circle in Norfolk Wednesday night.
