NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - The Virginia Zoo has a new resident - a baby squirrel monkey.
Zookeepers can't tell if it's a boy or a girl yet, so it doesn't have a name.
The baby was born earlier this month and joins another recent newborn. In Feb., a boy the zoo named Wolfie was born.
Squirrel monkey babies hang onto the backs of their mothers for a few months. The zoo says Wolfie is already starting to spend less time clinging to his mom's back.
Squirrel monkeys are native to the rain forests of Central and South America.
Both babies and four adults are now on display.
A company has been hired to complete the repairs to the Bonner Bridge on the Outer Banks, but how long those repairs will take remains unknown.
Vehicles lined up Wednesday, Dec. 4 to board the ferries traveling between Rodanthe and Stumpy Point on the Outer Banks.
One of the dogs rescued from a suspected puppy mill in North Carolina died Wednesday.
