NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A trash truck made a mess of a walkway at the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters (CHKD) in Norfolk Tuesday morning.
According to CHKD spokeswoman Dawn Midgett, there is no structural damage to the walkway, which is solely used by employees.
Captain Michael Hicks, with the Norfolk Fire Department, said the dumpster truck was going under the walkway when its hydraulic system malfunctioned and struck the elevated walkway.
The City of Norfolk office of building safety was called out to look at the damage. They determined it was structurally sound.
Midgett said a couple of lanes were blocked in the vicinity of walkway, while they were evaluating the scene.
