NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Two new Malayan tigers are set to be unveiled at the Virginia Zoo in about a week.
Zoo keepers are hoping Christopher, from the San Diego Zoo, and Api, from the Bronx Zoo, start breeding to help repopulate the species.
"Our facility is designed for breeding. We have four dens, so we're able to house four cubs when they come, and that is our goal here at the Virginia Zoo - [for the tigers] to breed," Jill Tarrant with the Virginia Zoo said.
A local convicted robber will serve 15 years behind bars for his part in a robbery at the Oceanfront two years ago.
