NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Three public workshops will be held this month on the Naval Station Norfolk Transit Extension Study, which started in April. The study is exploring expanding Tide light rail to the Navy base.
According to a news release from Hampton Roads Transit, one of the goals of the workshops is to gauge the purpose and need for the proposed expansion. Corridor planning for the study is set to progress in phases, identifying any issues, alternatives, and defining appropriate routes. The 15-month study will cost about $1.8 million.
The workshops will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the following dates:
-Wednesday, June 12, Blair Middle School, 730 Spotswood Ave., Norfolk (This location is served by local bus route 16)
- Monday, June 17, Granby High School, 7101 Granby St., Norfolk (This location is served by local bus route 1)
- Wednesday, June 19, Hilton Norfolk Airport, 1500 North Military Highway, Norfolk (This meeting is served by routes 15 and 23)
Wet weather is expected to move into the area over the weekend, forcing some areas to cancel or change their holiday events.
Four vehicles were involved in a crash on Route 17 in Gloucester Friday morning.
Hampton Police want to prevent crime and have remixed a holiday classic to deter thieves from being Grinches.
