NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - After delivering his last campaign speech before heading to Charlotte for the Democratic National Convention, President Barack Obama stopped by Norfolk Fire Station 14 bearing a very special gift.
The president shook hands with several on-duty firemen and asked them if they had heard about his White House craft beer. The president brews a pale ale, a regular ale and a honey ale.
"I've got a whole case here, and I'm going to call you up and see if you guys think it's the right recipe," Obama told the firefighters.
The men told WAVY.com the fire chief will be saving the case for the whole crew to split at a later time when they are off duty.
"He asked us how long we'd been with the city, our experiences," Norfolk Fire and Rescue's Jonathan Cuci told WAVY.com. "He [asked] our chief [if] we have the things we need to do the job appropriately and how that kind of stuff is going."
Obama stayed at the station for about 20 minutes before heading out of town.
