NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Norfolk Police arrested a carjacking suspect after a second incident was reported near Kidd Boulevard and Sellger Drive Wednesday
Police say the first carjacking was reported around 10:20 a.m. at 420 North Center Drive. A woman told police her maroon Expedition was taken.
"She literally got onto the top of the vehicle to stop it," said Michael Williams, who called 911. "That's when I looked out, heard the scream and he drove off this way and she fell forward down onto the concrete."
The woman told witnesses the suspect followed her from the elevator to her vehicle and forced her out of her vehicle when she refused. She had been at the business park to drop off some magazines.
The vehicle was last seen turning left toward Newtown Road. The woman suffered lacerations to her face.
According to Karen Parker-Chesson with the Norfolk Police Department, Gregg Baird of Machipongo, Va. was taken into custody after a second attempted carjacking was reported at Kidd Boulevard and Sellger Drive at 10:36 a.m.
Parker-Chesson said Baird knocked on the window of the second woman's car and yelled at her to take off her sunglasses. The woman drove off and got away.
Baird has been charged with one count of robbery - carjacking.
A routine traffic stop in Chesapeake resulted in a three-city pursuit Friday morning.
Wet weather is expected to move into the area over the weekend, forcing some areas to cancel or change their holiday events.
Four vehicles were involved in a crash on Route 17 in Gloucester Friday morning.
