NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia State Police have taken over an investigation after a woman's body was found at the side of the road in Norfolk Thursday morning.
Karen Parker-Chesson with the Norfolk Police Department said officers were dispatched to the area of Tidewater Drive and Guy Avenue around 10:19 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a woman's body at the edge of the street near the Interstate 64 Tidewater Drive off-ramp.
Thursday night, Sgt. Michelle Anaya with Virginia State Police reported VSP agents also responded to the scene. Anaya said VSP agents are continuing the criminal investigation as an undetermined death.
The woman has been identified as 30-year-old Courtney Elizabeth Hummel of Virginia Beach.
