NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A Norfolk jury convicted a man Thursday of charges related to a homicide in the Young Terrace section of the city June 2011.
27-year-old Deante Jerrell Mitchell was convicted in Norfolk Circuit Court of one count first degree murder and one count use of a firearm in commission of a felony, according to Amanda Howie with the Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney's Office.
Mitchell's convictions are related to the death of 21-year-old Jonathan Terrill Wilson, who was found in 800 block of East Onley Road on June 13, 2011 with multiple gunshot injuries. Wilson died two days later at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
The jury recommended Mitchell serve 51 years in prison for the offenses. He will be formally sentenced November 22.
