NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Officials will conduct a training drill on the Eastern Virginia Medical Center campus in Norfolk Thursday.
The drill will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the campus along Colley Avenue. The campus houses the Eastern Virginia Medical School, the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters and Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Anyone in the area may hear the drill, which will involve an active-shooter situation. There will be a heightening security presence.
The drill will mainly take place on Children's Lane which runs parallel to Colley Avenue between Olney Road and Raleigh Avenue. All city roadways will remain open during the drill except for Children's Lane.
Drivers should still use Raleigh Avenue in order to access the CHKD Emergency Room.
Officials stress this is only a drill and is not a cause for alarm.
