NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - The Norfolk dive team was called out to pull a car from the water outside Norfolk Botanical Garden Wednesday morning.
According to police, a driver fell asleep and drove into the water in the 6700 block of Azalea Gardens Road, shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday.
When rescue crews arrived on scene, the driver was already out of the vehicle. Police say the driver appeared disoriented, but was otherwise uninjured. The driver was issued a summons.
The dive team arrived on scene around 8 a.m. the following morning to recover the vehicle.
Norfolk Police are investigating the cause of death for male found unconscious on the beach.
