NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Officials say a carjacking suspect was granted bond and transferred to the Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center.
Gregg Baird was arrested April 3 after he carjacked one woman and attempted to carjack another.
Amanda Howie with the Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney's Office said Baird was granted a $10,000 surety bond. His custody was transferred from the Norfolk Sheriff's Office to the Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center.
Howie said an evaluation for competency to stand trial will also be conducted.
Baird will not be released from the center until his May 18 preliminary hearing and is to have no contact with the victim.
He is facing one count of carjacking.
