NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A suspect led police on a pursuit Saturday night, crashing into a house in Norfolk.
According to a news release from the Chesapeake Police Department, officers tried to stop a vehicle near the intersection of Berkley and Leonard avenues around 9 p.m. for a traffic infraction. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop, setting off a pursuit.
The pursuit ended when the suspect, identified as Jimmy Fordham of Norfolk, crashed into a house in the 1100 block of Wilson Road in Norfolk, according to the release.
Residents in the home say the crash was so loud at first they thought there had been an earthquake.
"We were just watching the football game and then we heard something hit the house," said resident Marquel Gunning. "The whole house just started shaking. We didn't know if it was a shooting or something. I peeped out the window and saw the guy run out the side of the car."
No one was hurt, and Fordham is now facing charges.
