NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Norfolk police found a body in the Lafayette River early Sunday morning that has now been identified as the suspect in a homicide that happened the day before.
Officers responded to the 2600 block of Tidewater Dr. around 8 a.m. after receiving a call that a body was floating in the water. Crews recovered the body, and it was sent to the Medical Examiner's office, where the cause of death was determined to be accidental drowning.
Chris Amos with Norfolk Police said the body was identified as 44-year-old Jeffrey Watkins, the suspect in the homicide of Shadosha Johnson, whose body was found in a Norfolk home Saturday morning .
Amos said Watkins and Johnson were in a relationship, and her death was domestic related.
