NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A special operation was conducted Friday when a woman fell into an empty fuel tank on a bulk cargo ship.
According to a news release from the Newport News Fire Department, crews were dispatched t the LTC John u. D. Page, a bulk cargo ship docked at 450 Harbor Road just before 3 p.m.
A 52-year-old worker had fallen approximately 20 feet into the empty tank.
The woman was extricated by the Technical Rescue Team, Hazardous Materials Team and Marine Incident Response Team.
She was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Charges have been made in a domestic abuse investigation involving a 74-year-old woman in Elizabeth City.
