NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Rep. Bobby Scott is holding his annual Labor Day picnic Monday.
The event is open to the public and will take place at Scott’s family home located at 914 Shore Dr. in Newport News from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe was among those expected to attend the 37th annual event.
More than 1,000 people typically attend the event. Scott’s picnic also hosts as a platform for political candidates seeking office in November and is an unofficial opening of the campaign season.
In case of rain, the event will be held at the W. Henry Maxwell Family Life Center at Ivy Baptist Church located at 50 Maple Ave. in Newport News.
