NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Newport News Police have arrested a 37-year-old Hampton woman who reportedly tried to fill a counterfeit prescription at a Walgreens on March 29.
Holly McPherson, spokeswoman for the Newport News Police Department, told WAVY.com Deidre Polite tried to have a counterfeit prescription filled at the Walgreens located in the 14400 block of Warwick Boulevard. She was unsuccessful.
Upon further investigation, officers found Polite had a prescription filled at a separate Walgreens along Jefferson Avenue that was also counterfeit, McPherson said.
Warrants for Polite's arrest were obtained on March 29 and she was taken into custody on Wednesday.
Polite is facing six counts of obtaining prescription by fraud, two counts of forged prescription, possession of oxycodone and attempt to violate Virginia drug control act.
