NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - PEOPLExpress Airlines announced Wednesday that it has acquired an XTRA Airways.
XTRA Airways is based in Boise, Idaho, and is certified to conduct operations with Boeing 737 aircraft. The new agreement allows PEOPLExpress to operate aircraft under the FAA certificate issued to XTRA.
PEOPLExpress has been planning to offer service out of the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport, but an exact start date is unknown.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation said work to secure the Bonner Bridge could take anywhere from a week to 90 days.
