NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Police are looking for three suspects after a 22-year-old man was shot during a robbery at a Newport News apartment complex.
Just before 12:30 a.m. Thursday, a call came in to Newport News Police Dispatch about a shooting victim in the 11000 block of Jefferson Ave. in Tarrytown Court. There, officers found a man in an apartment who had been shot in his arm and chest.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with what officers at the scene described as a life-threatening wound.
According to Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department, it appears the victim was outside when he was approached by three unknown males. One of the suspects took out a handgun while the other men when through the victim's pockets, taking some of his personal items.
Eley says the victim was shot during the robbery, and the suspects took off towards Adams Drive.
The victim is in the hospital in stable condition.
