NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A Newport News judge denied bond Wednesday for a man accused in a fatal head-on crash in Hampton.
33-year-old Jesse Evans, Jr. was convicted of a DUI offense incurred three months before the deadly Dec. accident.
Charges are still pending in the crash that killed Christopher Newport University freshmen Sierra Smith, 19, and Kim Brin, 17.
Police say Evan was driving the wrong way on the interstate when he slammed the Ford Taurus with five people inside.
A local convicted robber will serve 15 years behind bars for his part in a robbery at the Oceanfront two years ago.
Charges have been made in a domestic abuse investigation involving a 74-year-old woman in Elizabeth City.
Witnesses tell WAVY.com the attack of a shopper was the cause of a heavy police presence at the Ross department store at Military Circle in Norfolk Wednesday night.
