NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Newport News police have scheduled a Traffic Safety/DUI checkpoint for Thursday, December 15.
The checkpoint will begin at approximately 6 p.m. and continue until about midnight, a police news release said.
The main purpose of the checkpoint is to continue the police department's efforts in traffic safety, especially the removal of impaired drivers from the roadways.
However, officers will take the appropriate enforcement action to address any violations that they observe.
Funding for this is being provided through a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) grant.
