NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Newport News Police are asking for help identifying and locating a man involved in a bank robbery near Christopher Newport University.
Lou Thurston with the Newport News Police Department said a white male suspect with bifocals and a ponytail robbed a Sun Trust Bank in the 300 block of Hiden Boulevard around 4 p.m. Monday.
The suspect entered the bank, gave the teller a note and was given an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing on foot. He did not show a weapon, according to Thurston.
There were customers in the bank at the time, but there were no reported injuries.
The man was described as standing 5'8", weighing about 180 pounds and was wearing a greet T-shirt and jeans. A K-9 unit tracked down the suspect's discarded glasses and ponytail wig a short distance from the bank, Thurston said.
