NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Newport News Police have released new information about a badly decomposed body that was found Friday morning.
Lou Thurston with the Newport News Police Department said officers were called to the 300 block of 36th Street after the body of a white male was found in a shed behind a condemned house around 7:15 a.m. Friday.
The body was taken to the Medical Examiner's Office where it was determined that the man died as a result of a medical condition.
Thurston said because of the condition of the victim's remains, DNA testing is necessary for positive identification. The identification is still pending until the results of the DNA comparison are released.
