NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - School officials interviewed several students Thursday morning after a bullet casing was found in a restroom.
A student found the casing in one of the boys’ restrooms at Denbigh High School, Michelle Price with Newport News Public Schools told WAVY.com. The principal placed the school on lockdown around 9:50 a.m., which lasted about 30 minutes.
School officials were able to determine which students were in the restroom due to cameras in the common areas of the school. Price said the students were interviewed and they along with their lockers were searched.
Nothing else was found.
A phone message was issued to family members to notify them of the incident.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation said work to secure the Bonner Bridge could take anywhere from a week to 90 days.
