YORKTOWN, Va. (AP) - The mother of a high school freshman who committed suicideclaims in a wrongful-death lawsuit that York County school and lawenforcement officials failed to protect her son from a bully.
In the $10 million lawsuit filed July 30 in York-PoquosonCircuit Court, Alise Williams claims officials failed to act aftershe reported in early May that her son Christian Taylor was beingbullied by another Grafton High School student. Taylor hangedhimself May 31.
The lawsuit lists defendants as Grafton principal Paul Hopkins,assistant principals Craig Reed and Karen Fahringer, counselorJoseph Erfe and Ralph Hood, a school resource officer andYork-Poquoson sheriff's deputy.
County school spokeswoman Betsy Overkamp-Smith said she couldn'tcomment on pending litigation.
