JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) - A body has been found in the water in Black Stump Creek, and police are asking for help identifying the person.
A boater called police about a possible body in the water around 4 p.m. Sunday, according to a release from Jody Puckett, a spokeswoman for James City County. It was found in Black Stump Creek off the Chickahominy River, adjacent to the 2300 block of Bush Neck Road.
Fire and police personnel arrived and confirmed it was a body.
The body has not been identified at this time, according to Puckett, but it is described as a white man, believed to be in his thirties, with dark brown or black hair. Puckett said there are no identifying marks or items on the body, and officials believe it has been in the water for three to four days.
If you have any information about a missing boater or person, you're asked to call the James City County Police Department at 566-0112.
