HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - A suspect was arrested Tuesday for a maiming that happened during a Hampton shooting the day before.
Kenneth Winston Major, 22, of Hampton was arrested in Newport News May 28 based on information given to the Hampton Police through the Crime Line, according to Jason Price with the Hampton Police Department.
Major was arrested in connection with a shooting in the back of an apartment on the 300 block of Michigan Dr. Monday around 7:50 p.m. A 34-year-old male victim was shot in the leg and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Price.
The following investigation found that Major approached the victim, waved a gun and then shot him before fleeing the scene on foot. The suspect and victim knew each other, according to Price.
Major has been charged with one count of maiming and one count of the use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
