HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - Hampton police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead early Saturday morning.
Officers responded to the 600 block of Milford Ave. around 1:30 a.m. after receiving reports of gun shots in the area. When they arrived they found 25-year-old Michael Lovelace of Hampton with a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Medics arrived and pronounced Lovelace deceased at the scene, according to a press release from Hampton police.
Investigators have not released the circumstances surrounding the shooting or any information on a possible suspect.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the shooting to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
Camden County Sheriff Tony Perry said that during the last two weeks, incidents of breaking and entering and home or vehicle larceny have increased in two areas of the county.
