HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - Police say the body found in Hampton Monday morning has been identified as Candice Banks, who was last seen Jan. 12.
Banks, 28, was reported missing Jan. 25. Police said her body was found at approximately 9:30 a.m. Monday in a wooded area in the first block of Dogwood Street.
10 On Your Side spoke exclusively with Banks' father, Charles Jones, who was at the scene Monday. Jones said he believed Banks' former boyfriend, Curtis Brazier, is responsible.
"I think they had an altercation and I think he did something to her," Jones said.
Brazier was arrested Jan. 14 near the site of where the body was found for stealing Banks' purse. Police have yet to confirm a connection between Banks' death and Brazier.
Banks was last seen Jan. 12 in the 1100 block of Lasalle Avenue. She frequented Hampton to visit family and friends.
"She was just a good friend... She was just a good person, always sweet, always kind," Banks' friend Paul Mulleano told 10 On Your Side.
