HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - A Hampton woman died Tuesday as a result of her injuries caused by a stabbing. Police say her son is accused of stabbing her.
The mother, Debra Goodson, 56, was hospitalized after a stabbing on July 2 in the 500 block of Greenbriar Avenue.
Police said she and her son, 28-year-old Vernon Lavalle Goodson, were having a verbal altercation when he stabbed her multiple times in the upper torso.
Police said the suspect then fled the scene in his mother's silver 2004 Nissan Altima.
Vernon Lavalle Goodson has been charged with one count of murder, one count of use of a knife while in commission of a felony, and one count of grand larceny.
Goodson was previously arrested in July and remains in custody.
