HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - The Hampton SWAT Team was successful in taking a wanted suspect into custody Wednesday night.
Jason Price with Hampton Police said officers learned a man wanted on charges of robbery, use of a firearm and maiming in connection to a robbery on Aug. 4 was at a home in the 100 block of Michigan Drive and was possibly armed with a firearm.
As a precaution, the Hampton SWAT Team was called out to attempt warrant service.
Kevin Madison, 27, of Suffolk voluntarily exited the home and was taken into custody around 11:45 p.m., Price said. Madison accused of robbing and assaulting a man along Martha Lee Drive on Aug. 4 around 3 a.m.
Some local residents were also evacuated as a precaution.
Norfolk dispatchers say firefighters responded to a residential fire in the 6600 block of Adair Avenue Wednesday evening.
