HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - A Hampton home caught fire Friday evening.
Captain Jeffrey Pereira with the Hampton Fire Department told WAVY.com that a call for a house fire in the first block of Beverly Street came in around 6:20 p.m.
Pereira said that when firefighters arrived there was thick, black smoke coming from all sides of the home. The home has heavy smoke and fire damage.
No people were in the home at the time of the fire, and the Red Cross was not called for assistance.
As of Friday at 11 p.m., Pereira said the cause and origin of the fire was still unknown and under investigation.
