HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - Hampton police responded to a fatal car accident involving an HRT bus in the 100 block of Saunders Road at Philmont Drive.
Police said the call came in at around eight Tuesday morning. Two cars and an HRT bus were involved in the accident.
Police said a blue Chevy Cobalt was traveling eastbound and attempted to pass an HRT bus. After crossing the double yellow lines, the Cobalt was struck head on by a 2007 black Honda Odyssey.
The driver of the Cobalt, Jennifer Leigh McIntire, 28, of the 900 block of Harpersville Road in Newport News, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Honda Odyssey was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
According to police, there were five passengers on the bus at the time of the accident. No one on the bus was hurt.
Police said no charges will be filed as a result of this crash.
Camden County Sheriff Tony Perry said that during the last two weeks, incidents of breaking and entering and home or vehicle larceny have increased in two areas of the county.
