HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - A 95-year-old man was killed after a two-vehicle crash in Hampton Wednesday afternoon.
Sgt. Jason Price with the Hampton Police Division said the crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the 2500 block of West Pembroke Avenue. When officers arrived on scene, they found a man suffering from what looked at the time to be non-life threatening injuries.
The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Price said the hospital contacted police about three hours later to say the man had died from his injuries. The victim was identified as Troy Smith of Hampton.
According the Price, the preliminary investigation found a 2003 Buick Century was leaving a parking lot when it was hit by a 1998 Jeep Cherokee traveling eastbound on West Pembroke Avenue.
The crash remains under investigation at this time. Price did not say which vehicle Smith was driving.
