HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - The pirates are taking over Hampton this weekend for the annual Blackbeard Festival.
The 14th annual Blackbeard Pirate Festival is underway in the downtown area. Visitors can enjoy reenactments and music, children's activities, and plenty of food and drink.
The festival celebrates Hampton's rich maritime history and celebrates the demise of the area's most infamous pirate. Captain Edward Teach - better known as 'Blackbeard' - terrorized the area's waterways more than 300 years ago.
The festival continues through the weekend.
