CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Capt. Scott Saunders with the Chesapeake Fire Department said fire crews responded to a house fire in the 1400 block of Pine Bark Lane, in the Hickory section of the city Tuesday afternoon.
Fire units arrived at a two-story home around 3:35 p.m. and had the fire under control by 5:52 p.m.
Two adults live in the home, but were away at the time of the fire. The residence received severe damage and the occupants have been displaced.
Saunders said the fire was caused by lightning.
