CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Seven people were displaced from their home after a residential fire in the Bowers Hill area Tuesday night.
Capt. Scott Saunders with the Chesapeake Fire Department said crews were dispatched to the 4000 block of Sloop Trail at 7:28 p.m. Fire units arrived at the scene at 7:36 p.m. to find a two-story townhome with fire on the second floor.
Saunders said firefighters were able to control the flames in less than 20 minutes.
No one was injured, but a woman and six children were displaced because of the fire damage. They are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Saunders said the cause of the fire was an unattended candle.
Norfolk Police are investigating the cause of death for male found unconscious on the beach.
It took fire crews about 10 minutes to get an electrical fire under control in Suffolk Sunday night.
