CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A Chesapeake school was on lockdown Thursday morning after a domestic situation in a nearby neighborhood. Two people were arrested and charged in connection to the incident.
According to Kelly O’Sullivan with the Chesapeake Police Department, officers were called to the 2700 block of Broad Street around 9 a.m., which is near Carver Elementary School. The caller told police there was an armed woman inside a home, holding a family member and one other person hostage, according to O'Sullivan.
LaFrance Moye-Nesbit ,42, was arrested and charged with abduction, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and simple assault. O'Sullivan said Moye-Nesbit's husband, Phillip Nesbit, 46, was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice. Police said Nesbit was disorderly with officers during their investigation.
O'Sullivan said the third individual involved was interviewed and released from the scene.
Carver Elementary School was placed on lockdown. The lockdown at the school lasted for about 20 minutes, while police located all the the people involved.
O'Sullivan said the incident is still under investigation. There were no injuries.
