YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) - A Hampton man is facing charges after deputies say he purposely backed his vehicle into a home in Yorktown.
On November 11, deputies with the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office were called to the 500 block of Arabian Circle, in the lower part of the county, for a domestic dispute. According to Deputy First-Class Mike Russell, the woman, who lives in the home, and the male suspect had an argument and at one point the woman asked the man to leave. Russell said the man did leave, but a short time later he threw his Chrysler into reverse and accelerated into the home.
The woman was just inside the front door at the time of the crash and was thrown across the room, injuring her hip. She was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Russell said deputies found the suspect, later identified as Steve Randal Irby, Jr., inside the home. Irby, 34, of the 20 block of Corwin Circle, is charged with malicious wounding and felony property damage.
