NEWPORT NEWS, (WAVY) - Newport News police are investigating a baby's death on Pineland Circle Saturday.
Medics were called to a home on Pineland Circle just after 8 a.m. for reports of a baby who was not breathing, according to a police spokeswoman. An emergency dispatcher gave CPR instructions to the person who reported the incident, but the child could not be revived.
Police say the infant and a sibling were in the care of a babysitter at the time of the call. The babysitter was a friend of the children's parents.
Police said they are investigating the incident but have not said whether the child's death is suspicious.
