WACHAPREAGUE, Va. (WAVY) - Arson is suspected in an early morning fire on the Eastern Shore.
Sgt. Michelle Anaya with the Virginia State Police said agents were dispatched to the intersection of Drummondtown Road and Chancetown Road in Wachapreague around 12:30 a.m. for a report of a fire.
As of 5:50 a.m., Anaya said the fire was still burning and a fire scene examination has not been conducted. A preliminary investigation revealed arson is suspected at the abandoned structure.
More than 40 arsons have sparked on the Eastern Shore since November. Arrests have not been made.
