VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A man and his wife are facing several charges in connection to three incidents where purses were stolen from shopping carts in Virginia Beach.
The thefts occurred at three different stores between Aug. 19 and Aug. 31:
Aug. 19 – Walmart located at 1149 Nimmo Pkwy.
Aug. 22 – Food Lion located at 2005 Sandbridge Rd.
Aug. 31 – Target located at 2233 Upton Dr.
The suspects were described as a male and a female between the ages of 25 and 35. Both were captured on surveillance.
Wednesday, Virginia Beach Police said calls from anonymous tipsters led to the identities of the suspects.
Ryan Matthew Evans, Sr., 33, and his wife, Lisa Marie Hahn-Evans, 31, of Virginia Beach were arrested and charged with two counts of grand larceny, petit larceny and two counts of conspiracy to commit larceny. Matthew Evans is also charged with failure to appear.
Both are being held at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center on surety bonds.
