HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - Two men are behind bars charged in connection with a drive-by shooting in Hampton.
A woman was shot in the chest in the first block of Locust Avenue around 1 a.m. on Sunday, July 7.
Sgt. Jason Price with the Hampton Police Division said the victim was having a gathering at her house when two people she didn't know showed up and got into a fight. One of them left and later returned in a light-colored sedan. The suspects opened fire at the residence and the female victim was struck. Her injury was non-life threatening.
On July 11, investigators arrested Javon Parson, 19 of Hampton, and charged him one count maiming and one count use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is at the Hampton City Jail.
They also arrested Tamell Paden, 21 of Hampton, on the same charges. He is in Newport News City Jail on unrelated charges stemming from an incident on July 8. Newport News Police say Paden was charged with breaking and entering, grand larceny, conspire to commit a felony and conspire to commit grand larceny. A second man, Tyrone Williamson Jr. was also arrested on the same counts for the July 8 case.
Camden County Sheriff Tony Perry said that during the last two weeks, incidents of breaking and entering and home or vehicle larceny have increased in two areas of the county.
