NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - After more than six months on the lam, the Newport News Police Department has arrested a teen who officers say robbed a wheelchair-bound man.
Khaleed McKoy, 18, of Newport News was arrested Thursday on outstanding warrants of robbery and contempt of court.
On Feb. 1, Kenneth Jones, Sr. was robbed at Mo’s convenient Store at the corner of Warwick Boulevard and Old Courthouse Way. Jones told WAVY.com he won $500 in cash from a lottery ticket. He then proceeded to give the clerks cash and another customer in the store.
Detectives say McKoy demanded money from Jones as he was leaving the store. When Jones wouldn’t give him any, McKoy grabbed the money from Jones’ pockets and took several hundred dollars.
McKoy was identified as the suspect on Feb. 8.
State Police have made an arrest in the deadly shooting of a 15-year-old in Sussex County in September.
